News - May 2008

Well, the season did start proper on 6th April at Dyrham Park with, as Rodney reports, wintry weather including snow!!  Nonetheless, a good turnout despite that, which shows that you are hardy, keen and perhaps a bit daft too – long may it continue (otherwise we’d all be driving moderns!).

Last month's big news was the stand-up of our new website.  We asked you all to take a look and get back to Steve Trimble and Mark Knight with some helpful feedback and constructive criticism.  Well, guess what – very few have bothered…  Not much thanks for all of the hard work that Steve has put into it, I hope you’ll agree.

Interestingly however, an American lady found the site, and then got in touch with Mark Knight to tee up a meeting whilst her and her husband visit the UK – they are long-time Healey owners with, reportedly, the second 100M off the production line.  Good to see that it has paid off for someone at least!

Remember, the website is there for you but it is also you, our members, who possess valuable local knowledge, so we need you to help populate it with useful contacts, reputable traders, events, photos and so on; let’s get cracking. Please spend a minute or two to tell us what you think, and what you know!  Our contact details are listed on the Contact page.

HELP NEEDED

The AHC have been contacted by Cornwall Police who are looking for help tracing a stolen Austin Healey, unfortunately they don't know what model it is, but from the description it sounds like a 3000?.

This is info they have given:

- Austin Healey Sports Car 3.0 litre

- Reg: JAW 970E

- Colour: Ice Blue over White with a Dark Blue Interior

- Frame Number: HBJ840978

- Engine: 29K-RU-H-15501

Could we please ask if anyone hears of anything or gets asked by anyone about buying/selling one of these and its sounds a bit dodgy! Can you please try and get as much info as possible, like location, engine number etc off and contact Tracy Messer via email at comms@austin-healey-club.com  or on 0121 533 1558

Given the outrageous price of fuel we have found the fuel price checker website and thought this would be of use to you all.  You will have to sign up to use it but that is free:  http://www.petrolprices.com/index.html

And, in a similar vein, information on how your car tax prices (not for the Healey we're pleased to say!) will be going up (significantly for some) in the next year or two:  http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/
